School Street; Former School
Collection Search
Description
The two houses in this photo represent the remains of Kensington’s second school which operated on School Street from 1880-1902. The fence illustrates where the E.V.K Memorial Pool is located, and where the school was formerly located. When the school closed it was split in two, hauled off the property, and turned into two houses. The yellow section turned sideways was purchased by the town from Mr. Watson, and demolished after the pool opened in 1989. The other unpainted section, known as the “MacDougall House,” remained a few years longer before it was torn down c.1991.
