John Henry White, the Unknown Printer
Collection Search
Description
Even today, Prince Edward Island
seems an unlikely place for the
Bible to be printed, but in 1832, when
the population stood at only 32,000, an
obscure printer named John Henry
White produced in Charlottetown a two
volume edition of the Bible containing
17 lithograph illustrations. It was the
first Bible ever printed in what is now
Canada.
