Every once in a while a documentcomes to hand that gives us anunexpected glimpse into the lives of ourpioneer ancestors. Such a document hassurfaced recently. It is an unidentifiedmerchant's ledger, which details the purchasesof settlers, mostly Scots Highlanders,living along the north shore ofPrince Edward Island from PointDeRoche/Savage Harbour to East Point.The entries cover the years 1812 to 1843,with the greatest inputfrom 1812 to 1829.
