It has been said that no one couldpossibly understand what theFirst World War was like unless theyhad been there. The same could besaid of any war that has occurredbefore or since; but the war of 1914-1918 was unprecedented in termsof its scope and the impact it hadupon the lives of ordinary peoplethe world over. Prince EdwardIslanders were not excepted fromthis. Thousands joined the colours incombatant and support roles, whilethose left at home did what theycould to support both the cause andtheir loved ones overseas.
