Description
All of a sudden there it is — Souris!
The traveller comes over the crest of the
hill after passing St. Alexis's Church at
Rollo Bay, and Souris is spread out
before him on the eastern horizon, an-
chored on the left by the sandstone bulk
of St. Mary's Church, and on the right
by the red and white tower of Souris
lighthouse. In the foreground are the
calm waters of Souris River — if you
look closely you may see tiny figures
digging clams on the mud flats — and
on the other side of the bridge over the
river the livelier waters of Colville Bay,
bearing a Cape Island boat or two, and
perhaps a trawler, entering or leaving
the harbour.
