The Great Adventure: Travel Letters of William MacDonald
Collection Search
Description
In the spring of 1881, William A.
MacDonald embarked on a great
adventure. With his brother, George,
and his neighbour, Bill Kaneen, he
went West to seek his fortune in Col-
orado. Before he left, he promised to
write "a full account" of the journey
out to his friend, John A. Dewar. He
did, and today the story of his going
makes highly entertaining reading.
More than that, MacDonald's odyssey,
and the reasons behind it, reflect a
whole era on his native Prince Edward
Island.
