In October, 1793 Robert Gray -member of the Council of theIsland of St. John, assistant judge,provincial treasurer, deputy secretaryand registrar, deputy surveyor-general,major in the militia, private secretaryto, and protege of Lieutenant-GovernorFanning - put on a hat different fromall of these, i.e. that of agent to LordHugh Seymour-Conway, the proprietorof Lot 13, and prepared to write areport of a visit he had made to the Lotthe previous August.
