When in 1973 Prince EdwardIsland celebrated the centennialof its entry into Confederation, thecommittee organizing the event publisheda new arrangement of a songwhich over the years had become theunofficial provincial anthem. It wasthe "Island Hymn," with words byL.M.Montgomery and music byLawrence W.Watson entitled "InsulaBeata" — "Blessed Island." The wordsare gently conventional, expressinglove for the Island, invoking all thebenefits of good fortune upon her, andpledging undying fidelity to her — "asbrothers hand in hand" singing "Godsave the land we love so well."
