Peter Sinnott (September 3rd 1796 – July 16th 1877) was born in Wexford, Ireland and immigrated to PEI in 1821. He settled in Morell as a farmer with his wife Anastasia Foley and their 10 children; James, Mary, Clement, Philip, John, Daniel, Johannah, Peter, Martin and William.
Peter Sinnott: Born September 3rd 1790 in Wexford County, Ireland, sailed to Prince Edward Island from Newfoundland on a Schooner in 1820. Lived in Morelle, Lot 39, likely from 1820 until his death sometime after the 1861 census. No record of Peter Sinnott exists in the available census’ on the Prince Edward Island Public Archives, however the 1861 census indicates that Sinnott was a farmer living on 275 acres of land in Lot 39, farming predominantly oats, potatoes, and producing butter. Sinnot was a Roman Catholic, as stated in the 1861 census, as Wexford County was a predominantly Roman Catholic county of Ireland, also Sinnott descendants in Lot 39 during the 1881 census indicate a strictly Roman Catholic background. Sinnott, aged 71 at the time of the 1861 census, lived with a boy under 5, two men aged 21-45, and of course himself. He had also lived with one girl under 5, two women aged 21-45, and a woman upwards of 60, most likely his wife. Four of the people in his residency were married. Sinnot died sometime after the 1876 census and left his 275 acres to what is likely to be his four sons and grandson, Peter, Phillip, Patrick, and Peter A..
