In Part One, Dr. Cameron outlined theorigins of the Church Union movement inCanada and its progress on Prince EdwardIsland among Methodists andPresbyterians during the first two decadesof the 20th century. The tide of unionsentiment was strong, but a fierceundercurrent of opposition graduallydevelopedinPresbyterianranks. The issuereached a climax on the Island during thelegislativesession of 1924. Part One endedwith Lt. Gov. Murdoch MacKinnon'ssurprising decision on 11 April 1924 towithhold assentfromtheprovincial ChurchUnion Bill.
